Day 292

Phew… that day blew by like a hurricane. Fortunately Bubba did not create one and is back on track to set a new and much-anticipated record for tantrum-free days since the winter holiday season. Bubba and I walked to school in what was left of the snow. It was quickly melting but we were able to study tracks all the way to school. We say squirrel, dog, deer, crow, and various human tracks. We were both pretty excited to follow them and we weren’t too far behind another family from his school which made it feel a little more like we would find what we were ‘chasing’.

After tracking him off to school, I walked back chatting with my Dad on the phone and then took a few minutes to clean up our apartment and myself before running back out. I met with a new doula client and her family. It’s so nice when it feels like a good match and before long I got the email saying that they knew it was the right fit. That made my day and gave me the energy to do my couple of hours of work for my more regular job. I took a few minutes after that to work the elk hide while talking with someone ‘in the know’ about a job for which I am applying. I made it out the door and back in time to grab Bubba and get him home for what will hopefully be our last appointment with a social worker.

After the social worker left, we ran out to pick up the two kiddos who will be staying the night while their mom takes a well-deserved break. The kids made pizza, ate their salads while it cooked and did the dishes. Couldn’t have been better. Now, I need to write an essay to accompany my first (and likely only) publicly hung art-piece for an opening tomorrow. After that I will do a couple of more hours of work and get to sleep before dragging three kids off to their various places so I can get to work for real tomorrow.

This is definitely a busy week but so far I’m enjoying it. Busy and successful is very doable. Who knows when the pins will get knocked down by fate or Murphey’s Law but I’m happy to enjoy it while the goin’ is good.
